Service and Facilities
The ninth-floor gym is large and well-equipped and offers free yoga, Pilates and sports sessions. The main pool, with adjacent kids’ pool, is a little small for a hotel with over a thousand rooms. The sumptuous spa offers a variety of treatments including aromatherapy and Thai massage.

Rooms
The standard rooms are compact, carpeted and flawlessly furnished in grey and brown tones. They are a little sombre perhaps, but feature all the state of the art amenities.

Food and Drink
The Marriot Marquis has four restaurants, The excellent Goji restaurant serves all-day international cuisine and the evening buffet is out of this world, with great selections of Japanese, Indian, western and Thai dishes, along with desserts from around the world. The breakfast buffet is almost as expansive.

Value for Money
Double rooms from 5000 Baht (£114) in low season; and from 6500 Baht (£149) in high. Breakfast included. Free Wi-Fi.

Family-Friendly?
Parents with children over five years of age can take a breather at the pool or go shopping while their offspring is well looked after at the kids’ club which features climbing opportunities for the little ones and video games for older kids. There’s also a kids’ pool. Baby sitters and extra beds.

Location
The hotel sits adjacent to Benchasiri Park, which boasts a small lake and a jogging trail, and is in walking distance of the classy new Em Quartier shopping centre as well as the Emporium, one of the city’s stalwart luxury malls on Sukhumvit Road. The hotel is also close to new shopping and dining districts Thong Lor and Ekkamai.
