Affordable hotel in a key location in Patong

The place is perfect if you plan to maximise your holiday in Phuket by equally mixing beach time, party time and easy to access restaurants and endless shopping. The hotel, which was long known as Banthai Beach Resort, is across the street from a beautiful wide beach and just 500 metres from Bangla Walking Street, the heart of Patong nightlife.

The Hotel

DoubleTree by Hilton Phuket Banthai Resort is a vast hotel with three wings, each built around a large swimming pool. Guests can enjoy two restaurants, two main bars and three swim-up bars, a bakery, and a fitness room. The decor is simple and elegant with an impressive lobby and well designed contemporary rooms to match the needs of all modern travellers, and at a very affordable rate.

The rooms

All the rooms come with pool views but only a few have pool access, so we treated ourselves to a pool-access for a weekend in Patong. Stepping down anytime from your room right down into the warm water of the immense pool is as good as a holiday can be.



The pool access room we stayed at was modern and well designed, maybe a little small, but with all the amenities you can expect for an international brand such as Hilton. Just keep in mind that pool access rooms don’t come with a desk, so if you need one, you should book a superior room.



The bathroom deserves a special mention: the bathroom is bright, very spacious, and features a separate shower and a lovely bathtub, perfect for relaxing after a long day exploring the nearby islands or even just a day spent on the beach.

Restaurants and Bars

The Port is the main restaurant near the beach where you probably will enjoy your breakfast, but also lunch and dinner. The venue is bright and very welcoming, surrounded by tall coconut trees. If the weather allows, the roof retracts, and it adds a unique tropical touch to your breakfast. You feel like you are about to start a fantastic holiday in Thailand. However, if the temperature outside is too hot, guests can enjoy the indoor and air-conditioned room. The restaurant team is friendly and always helpful, making sure your meals go smoothly.



The hotel has no less than three vast swimming pools, each equipped with very inviting swim-up bars!



Blah Blah Bar is an iconic open-air square bar counter bar where guests can enjoy a vast array of drinks any time of the day. The location is by the street side and is perfect for enjoying a sunset drink, or have some fun after dinner and watch the world go by.

Facilities

The fitness centre is well-equipped with treadmills, cross-trainers, sports machines and free weights.

The Beach

Just across the street from the hotel, the beach is vast and superb, and the sea is clear and blue in high season. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent for a small fee (loungers don’t belong to the hotel), and you can easily buy soft drinks, beers and fresh coconuts for the many small beach bars set along the beach.



If you feel like a little adrenaline rush, you can rent a jet ski or enjoy a short parasailing ride, but keep in mind that accidents are not unheard of.
