A unique street market with an unconventional location
The Prisoner of War Camp Market, earlier known as the Concentration Camp Market, gets its name from its distinctive history. As you may have guessed, the site of the market was previously a prisoner-of-war camp.
There are vendors selling clothes and souvenirs such as hats and cheap bracelets. But people come mainly to chill with the river view while enjoying tasty treats such as papaya salads, crab fried rice, and moo kratha (hot-pan sharing meals). Most evenings also feature live bands playing. Visitors can pay respects to the brave soldiers of World War II at the memorial grounds before making their way to the main market grounds.
