Thai Culture Dressing

Dressing in ancient times

Since the past, Thai people have had a unique style of dressing using Thai cloth, which is made from silk and various hand-woven fabrics used to make sabai for Thai women. As for men, there is a popular dress code for villagers, probably the loincloth, which Popularly used since ancient times and still exists today.

For example, in the late Ayutthaya period, Thai women would wear loincloths instead of tight-fitting shirts with cylindrical sleeves. Men will wear a purple robe, a closed-neck shirt with a slit at the chest, and long sleeves. Shirts are usually not preferred.

Nowadays, we can hardly find this kind of dress. This is because Thai people nowadays like to dress according to popular styles. Following the Europeans, the clothes of the past began to disappear a lot.
