Wat Kaew Korawaram
Another beautiful attraction in Krabi Town is the Wat Kaew Korawaram, a Buddhist temple located on top of a small hill in the center. This white temple is one of the best temples in the city. Particularly striking here is the staircase with the many colorful snake sculptures. The entrance to this attraction is free and should not be missed on any walk through the old town of Krabi Town.
Wat Kaew Korawaram, also known simply as Wat Kaew, is the largest Buddhist temple within Krabi Town and one of most prestigious in the entire region.
At the top of the stairs you will find the large temple complex featuring white walls and unusual dark blue tiled-roofs, usually the roofs of Buddhist temples in Thailand are coloured in red and gold.
Wat Kaew’s ordination hall is very bright with open windows on all sides and features a red ceiling as well as splendid paintings on the light blue walls. It houses a large golden Buddha statue and some precious Buddha relics. The original ordination hall of Wat Kaew is right opposite the actual temple, and nowadays hosts The Krabi Contemporary Art Museum. On the temple terrace, you will find Wat Kaew Holy Amulets & Souvenir Shop, as well as food and drink stalls.
